The Y has appreciated by 50% with respect to X
lConsider a X/Y exchange rate that has changed from 2 to 3 X/Y.
1Y=2X, 1Y=3X
The change in the Y price of a X as:
ü3/2-1=50%
The Y has appreciated 50% with respect to the X.
lTo calculate the percentage depreciation of the X
1/2Y=1X, 1/3 ?Y=1X
The percentage change in the X price of a Y is
ü1/3/1/2-1=-33.33%
